Tho Archbishop of Tuam having declared that cattle driving was illegal and immoral as a means of redress, the people of the archdidces© desisted and yielded to the wishes of the police. The special police, in most cases, have since been withdrawn. Justice Wright, at Dublin, sentenced tho fivo men convicted last week of cattle driving, to four months' imprisonment. LONDON, December 3. A jury at Dublin yesterday disagreed in the case of twenty-six Galway men charged with cattle driving, despite Justice Wright's emphasising that tho driving was admitted and Justice Cherry's remark that no honest man could doubt that driving was a criminal offence. MORE INCITING TALK. PROSECUTION OF MR GINNELL URGED. (Received December 4, 8.40 a.m.) LONDON, December 3. Mr L. Ginnell, member of Parliament for North Westmeath, speaking at Kilsheelan (Tipperary), declared that the Hon. A. Birrell's promise to do what the people wanted, if their demand was made with sufficient courage and energy, meant that they ought to pursue cattle-driving vigorously. Tho Westminster Gazette urges the Government to prosecute members of the House of Commons who hare been inciting cattle-drivers, especially Mr Ginnell. [About the beginning of September Mr Ginnell made some unusually fiery speeches urging Irishmen to "clear the ranches" by cattle-driving. Speaking at Kells, he urged tho men of Meath to "turn and rend the ranching demon" by driving off the cattle of tho tenants. A little later he stated that some members of the British Government would be glad to see the cattle-drivers deal a death-blow to all landlordism and ranching by clearing the land of them. They could get Parliament to ratify the deed. Cattle-drivers need not fear gefcting into trouble, as some members of tho Government would see they were treated very kindly.
