INCOME TAX.

Per Press Association.

WELLINGTON, August 13.

The Land and Income Tax Department is experiencing considerable difficulty in getting in its returns from those people liable to assessment under this Act. As a result, much inconvenience is caused to the Department. Some people appear to take no notice of circulars requiring them to forward the necessary particulars. The Commissioner scarcely desires to go to the extreme of ', issuing a large batch of summonses, but this course will have to be taken unless there is a more speedy reply. Neglect to furnish returns is punishable by a fine of not less than £2 nor more than £100.
