DUNEDIN, July 21.

A representative meeting of coal mine owners decided to emphatically protest against any increase of duty on mining machinery, especially boilers and locomotives, as the industry has already as much as it caji .carry. In reply to, a' telegram sent by electrical firms in this •* city, protesting against the proposed tariff on electrical machinery and appliances, the Hon. J. A. Millar says, "Electrical machinery ;s; s simply being put on tbe same basis as steam machinery, with which it enters into competition, and revenue is required."
