PRINTERS' HOLIDAYS.

(Per Press Association).

CHRISTCHURCH, July 18.

At tho Arbitration Court this afternoon proceedings were taken by the Inspector of Awards against the Christchurch Press Co.. the Lyttelton Times, and Whiicombe and Tombs, Ltd., to obtain enforcement of the industrial award. The' award was alleged to provide that employees in the printing trade in Christchurch should be paid for certain holidays. Evidence was called to show that holidays had never before been paid for by master printers in Christchurch. Counsel for the respondents stated that if the application was granted it would mean a difference to the three firms of about £1/500, and if back pay were awarded the amount would be between £7000 and £8000. Decision was reserved.
