OVERCROWDING OF TRAMCARS.

A NEW TOWN HALL.

Per Press Association.

AUCKLAND, July 19. The City Council dealt with the overcrowding of tramcars last night. The Council decided to notify the Tram Company that eight additional cars must bo provided before the end of the year, and one new car every month next year, and that the power must be increased. It was, however, agreed to amend the by-laws to allow a greater number of passengers to be carried by each car. It was left to the City Engineer to decide how many passengers the cars could conveniently carry. The City Council resolved to invite tenders for a new Town Hall according to the original design.
