COMPENSATING SLAVE-OWNERS.

In the House of Commons, the Undersecretary for the Colonies, Mr Winston Churchill, replying to Mr Pease (Liberal) said £40,000 would be expended in Zanzibar as compensation for slaveowners and expenses in the emancipation of slaves.
