Mr Newton King reports: — At the Haymarket on Saturday small store pigs

made 18s, slips 5s 6d to 10s 6d, horses

£4 to £5 ss, gig £12, dogs 2s 6d. A ■ quantity of maitee (damaged) made 2s * 9d a bushel. At the mart the poultry pens were well filled and birds met a ready sale. Ducks made Is 6d to 2s, hens Is 3d to

Is lOd, chickens 8d to Is. Well-grown cockerels, heavy sorts, are in strong demand, and I have an enquiry for 50 a week.

Fruit — 1 quote prices realised during the week as follows: — Apples 5s 6d to 9s, pears 5s to 7s 6d, lemons 4s 6d, oranges 4s to Bs.

On Wednesday and Friday I held clearing sales of furniture on account of Mrs W. L. Gray and Mr T. W. Leece. There were good , attendances at both sales and. satisfactory prices were realised. I have a special lot of furniture for sale at • the mart to-morrow and commend same to those who were unable to fill their requirements at the other sales'. i

Cattle.— At -Stratford on Tuesday the rough weather spoilt what promised to have been a good sale. Prices realised were as follows : — Calves, lls ; 12 to 15 months steers, 21s to 37s 6d; 2-year steers, £2 7s 6d to £2 18s 6d ; 2\ to 3 year steers, £3 6s 6d to £3 12s ; springing heifers, £4 7s 6d to £6 ; store cows, £1 10s to £2 lls ; forward do., £3 0s 6d to £3 10s; fat do., £4 2s 6d; bulls, £1 9s 6d to £2 12s 6d.

At Stony River on Wednesday small calves made 7s to 9s 6d, good calves 10s to 19s; yearlings 30s 6d to 345; 18 months to 2 ,year steers, £2 3s 6d to £2 7s 6d ; 3 year old bullocks, £4 12s 6d to £4 15s ; fat cows, £3 15s to £4 65.; store cows, £1 10s to £2 7s; poor do., 20s to 275 ; heifers in calf, £2 to £2 14s 6«L A number of pigs sold at satisfactory prices, slips making 4s to 8s 6d, good .do. 11s 6d to 13s, porkers 20s to 245,; horses £1 7s 6d to £3 15s.
