— v ■■«»» — Under the direction of Mr E. Bunger, the expert oil driller from America,, the preparations for boring at the Ne^ Plymouth Company's property, Were's farm, Omata, are .proceeding apace. Tlie .derrick is 1 practically complete, and a commencement has been made with the sheds. This derrick, we are informed, is the largest yet in existence in thfe colony, and is similar to those used at all the large wells throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It is 7 1 feet high, and has a base of 20 feet, lb also differs from other derricks in that the entire structure is not boarded in, merely the lower portion. All the machinery is on the ground, and Mr Bunger. expects to have it all running in about 10 days and drilling operations commenced. Capital progress is being made by Mr Keith and his staff at Bonithon. Mr Nelson is. expected to arrive m New Plymouth to-night. ■■< ' At the Oil and Freehold Company's works on. the Carr'ingtoh Road not much, more can be done until the arrival of, a special drill and casing, Which are expected from Englandjshortly.
