Sales of arts and crafts exhibits have totalled more than £900: Mr Longdon, in charge of the British Art School, expects the total sales for the Exhibition period will amount to more than £20,000. ; At the annual meeting of the Canterbury Art Society on Friday mght, a resolution was passed that, in the opinion of this society, the time has com© when entrance to the, Art Gallery of the Exhibition should be free, except on one day of the week. - : It was further decided to approach the Government with a view of endeavouring to secure free admittance to the gallery by working members and exhibiting artists. At "present the charge for admission to the gallery is sixpence on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and on 6 shilling on Friday, and admission is fre« or* Thursday and Saturday. Mr Munro, the general manager, expresses himself strongly averse to any change, on the ground that ths present arrangement is proving eminently satisfactory. The next display of London fireworks will take place on Wednesday night, accompanied by a massed bands' performance and a repetition of " fighting the flames." CHRISTCHURCH* March 23. tfowthat the fire brigade, demonstration is concluded, the sports ground will be prepared for the football matches to be played there on Easter Saturday and Easter Monday. One of the incidents connected with the closing ceremonies of the Exhibition, which will take place on Monday, April 15th, will be the presentation by His Excellency the Governor, as patron of the Exhibition, of the certificate awards. It is not suggested that His Excellency will present each successful exhibitor, but a formal presentation of the awards xull be made- to a- committee * appointed by the exhibitors to receive them: Steps are being taken to close the Exhibition on Monday. April 15th, and arrangements are beina made by which the Australian squadron, which -will be in Lyttelton on that day; will take part in the ceremony. - .
