The Citstome at Ijondon stopped large parcels of Australian leathe- 1 because the export certificates showed tliey contained sugar and glucose, on which the Customs are claiming 1 duty, thus 'delaying delivery t<o consignees. It is expected 1 that export certificates _tr«e not necessary, and nve not tisod for American and Argentine leather, 1 which contain sugar, but enter free. Mr Coghlan, Agent-Genoi'al for New j-south Wales, has written to the Customs asking that thf same treatment be accorded n\l leathers.
