PERSONAL.
Lieutenant Hunter, conductor for 35 years of the Auckland Garrison Band, has resigned on account of ill-health. Mr G. Spencer Clapham, who recently returned from America, where h» was engaged in journalistic and lecturing work, is at present on a visit to New Plymouth. He went to the States prior to the St. Louis .Exposition. Mr J. B. Connett returned on Saturday evening from Wellington,, where he had been attending a meeting of the Harbour Board Association's Executive. On the eve of his departure from Stratford, Mr S. Pipe, of the local postal staff, was the recipient o£ a presentation from his fellow lettercarriers. Mr Honeyfield voiced the regret of the staff at their- colleague's departure. 'Mr R. Cock returned to ' New Plymouth on Saturday evening from. Wellington. <He greatly enjoyed his trip, to the /Islami'ds -and' 'Australia, in company with 'Mr "W. J. Peon, and it has proved very beneficial to 'his health. Mr Cyril . Ward did mot return to the colony with the other members of the family. He intends staying, in Eujglaud! for about -twelve months, studying, mercantile and commercial pursuits.
