Reginald Grimstone, the teii-year-old son of the Manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Alexandra, was killed by a fall of earth while digging under a clay bank. fhrigtchurch, September 29. A sad fatality happened in the Lyttelton Harbour last night, when JohnEckmann, one of the men working , on the Lyttelton Harbour Board's dredge, Manchester, was washed out of ;the boat and drowned. Eckmann was in a boat in charge of the after moorings when a heavy back wash of waterj from the propellors of the dredge caused , the boat Lo capsize. Two life buoys 'were thrown out. which Eckmann failed to seize. A boat went to his assistance, but he disappeared when the boat was 30 feet away. The work of dragging for the *.ody was continued throughout the '.lay without result,.
