The Daily Times, in its commercial columns, says there appears to be a lilcelihood of competition between the rival shipping companies for this season's dairy produce for the English market. A contract has ! . been arranged with the Shaw, Savill, and Albion and New Zealand Shipping Companies by the National Dairy Associations of both islands, providing for the carriage of butter at .fiveeighths of a penny per ft>, and cheese at a halfpenny. . A fortnight ago it was announced that the companies would* likely the butter freight to a halfpenny. - The Federal, Shire, and Honlder lines, - 'with, a direct monthly service to West ,of England ports, have intimated their intention of carrying butter at three-eighths of a penny, and it is understood that they will take cheese at a halfpenny. With record prices, in Sjpme cases reaching 10^d for butter and sfd for cheese, the dairy producers look forward to a profitable season.
