L- 4, ■ J (From our Resident Agent.) I July 14th.»— The decision of the-Au- | ditor-General in the Hospital Board assets division has evoked surprisingly little comment here, seeing how disappointing it must be to all who take an interest iv hospital matters- Itt takes! a little philosophy to cheerfully accept £315 after claijning £2000. There* is j likely to be far more interest taken' in the .question of the site for the Wuil'Hing 1 . The reserve years ago set 'asido for , a site is disliked by an'any people, ..in olWing at least one member of the Board. Looking for a Jpetier, envious eyes have been cast tip 011 the south-west comer of JK'ing 3Ld•.ward's Park, where the Domain Bosird shas done good wbrk in planting shelter belts. The matter was informally bromgtht- before-the. Domain Board this afternoon. The members were, tfiot hostile to the idea of an exchange provided it proved t6, 'be ' strongly, supported by public opinion. As Stratford is making so ibolid, a bid for the proud title of the metropolis of football at is a pity our ground is not tjuite a first-class one, cither from a player's or spectator's view-point. The Mayor considers the matter one of somti importance and is taking steps to remove from the town the discredit of allowing its geographical position as the football-centre to go to waste. The usually tame proceedings- of the Domain Board were this afternoon enlivened by the reading of a lawyer's letter peremptorily and somewhat ferociously demanding that the Board and jits servants should desist from committing- 1 trespass on certain lands adjacent to the western boundary of King Edward's ' Park where the Board is erecting a fence. It seems that 'ihat part of the Park is only to be approached by wading the river unless a bridge on private property is used. The Chairman of the Board reported that he had caused an apologetic letter 1 to be sent to the irate landowner, and had provided access by means of a iwenty-foot plank. Stratford. Gun Club visited Eltham ' yesterday to shoot a return match, but were .again defeated. ' The arrangement was that the losing side should pay for dinner, so it was with feelings almost too deep for words that the vanquished found themselves the guesis of their conquerors ai a really superior spread lubricated by the best brands and the utmost goodfellowship.
