NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY AUCTION REPORT.
At the Haymartet on Saturday a good number of pigs came in. Slips made 4s 6d to 7s 6d, small stores 9s to 18s ; horse £3 15s ; bonedust and guano made 4s 6d to 5s 6d cwt. At the mart, a splendid lot of really good poultry came forward. There was spirited bidding and excellent prices were realised. Pullets made Is 8d to 4s 4d, hens Is 2d to 2s Gd, roosters Is 5d to 4s 2d, ducks Is 6d to 3s 6d. A quantity of sundries made low prices. On Wednesday I held a clearing sale of furniture on account of Mrs J. Patterson, when there was a large attendance and very good prices were realised. Cattle.— At Waiwakaiho on Tuesday weanera made 15s to 21s 6d, good calves 23s to 30s, calves to yearlings 3os to 40s Cd, 18-mos to 2-yr steers £2 13s to £2 16s 6d, store cows £2 7s 6dL one choice springing heifer £5 17s 6d.
On Thursday, at Tariki, I held a very successful clearing sale on account of Mr C. Simons. The herd of 90 cows was of good average quality in nice condition. Bidding from the start was brisk and was well maintaineH right through the sale, prices realised being most satisfactory. Early calvers made £6 to £9, one cow at full profit £9 los, late calvers £4 5s to £6 los, aged and backward cows £2 5s to £3 10s, empty cows £2 30s, heifers in calf £3 to £4 Is, bulls 32s 6d to £2 10s, calves 265, mixed sheep 19s, one 2£-year unbroken filly £16 15s, one do. £S ss, one draught do. £18 s^, harness pony £9, breeding sow £2 13s, boar 10s. Land. — I have to report the following sales :— Mr Medcalfs farm at Toko to Mr Needham of Kaponga ; 250 acres at Huiakama to Mr Metcalf.
