Per Press Association.
Auckland, May 23.
The Hon. iW. Hall-Jones, replying after the presentation from the Seamen's Union, said the Main Trunk Line must be pushed on. The co-op-erative system ha!d proved cheaxjor than contract. Referring to. the case exposed by Mr Taylor, M.H.R., in Christolmrch, he said %fi matter would; have the immediate attention of Parliament when the House met, and legislation would be introduced providing for a more reasonable limit for the cofaurwncement of a prosecution in such cases in order to prevent scoundrels going free. The case in which a woman was strangled in a straight waistcoat proved that these institutions required closer inspection hy Government officials. This would also come before Parliament lao.vt session.
