Constable Kelly, of Port Awanui, has been appointed to the charge oi Rahotu. Constable Mcllsop, of Port Ahuriri, and formorly of New L%mouth, succeeds him. Mr M. Fraser returned from his= island trip on Saturday night. The Hon. Hal I- Jones left Auckland for South this afternoon by the West Coast boat. j At Auckland, on Monday evening the Don. llall- Jones was presented with a handsome marble clock by the A tickland branch of the Seamen's , Union, in recognition of the benefits conferee! ' on j seamen by the passing of the Shipping and Seamen's Act. • Tho Mayor of i Auckland (Mr Arthur Myers) presided at the gathering, the presentation being made by Mr J. Iv. Kneen, secretary of the branch. Mr J. B. Roy has written to the Borough Council agreeing 1 , as an exMayor, to add a ljink to the Mayoral chain and present a photograph to the Cotimcil to be placed in the Council Chambers.
