WAITARA NEWS.

The municipal band bazaar was held on Friday and. ..Saturday afternoons and evenings and was well patronised. Mr W. T.J Jennings, M.H.R., was present, and irt opening the bazaar made special mention of the efforts of the ladies in working up such an array of useful and. pretty articles, and expressed a hope that the band funds would benefit by their efforts. He considered by assisting the band the people of . Waitara were assisting a most useful organisation. Pis Worship the 'Mayor and 'Mayoress were also present. TEe stalls were in the capable hands of the following ladies : — Kefreshments, Mrs Allan, jMisses Sampson and Collier ; bachelors' stalls, Misses Bell and Tate ; plain sewing, Misses ,B* -Mortensen and L. Sampson; fancy works,, Mrs Bectbessinger and Mrs W. H. Nosworthy ; bran tub, Miss E. Tate; Christmas . Tree, Mrs C. H. Sampson ; afternoon 1 tea, Mrs Wihite Mrs Spurdle, Misses Bayly, Hamblyn, Street, anid Kyle. There were also shooting gallery, fortune telling, pit and art galleries. ( AJmost all the articles were disposed of, and it is expected , that tlie bazaar will realise a profit of about £501' flfr Clare has been engaged by the Harbour Board to tighten up the Waitara bridge, a work which was badly needed.
