The King of Italy, the municipality, and the people of Rome combined to accord King- Edward a splendid, cordial, and picturesque reception. The decorations were on a magnificent scale, and of a most artistic land. The King contributed £10.000 towards the cost. The militar;,- display was brilliant and imposing. The King and Royal Princes welcomed King Edward on his arrival at tlie station. Replying to an address of welcome presented by Prince Colon ia. Mayor of Rome, King Edward said he was happy to reader personal homage to the etennal city. After greeting Queen Helena at the Quirinal, his Majesty visited the Queen Dowager Margherita. Received April 29, 5.40 a.m. Rome, April 23. King Edward laid wreaths en the tombs of Kings Emanuel and Ilumbert.
