The Antarctic exploration ship Discovery has arrived at Cpe Town, all well. The ship behaved splendidly. After coaling she proceeds to Lyttelton, not calling at Melbourne in order to save time. Received October 5, 9.12 a.m. EXTENSIVE BANK FORGERIES. London, October 4. Eighty thousand pounds sterling of National Bank of Greece notes have been forged. Large seizures have been made, and several arrests effected. The conspiracy has ramifications in Germauy and France. THE FRENCH RELIGIOUS ASSOCIATIONS. Paris, October 4. Out of a total of 16,468 Religious Associations in France, 5141 have applied for Government authorisation. The Jesuits, Pissionists, and Assumptiqaists have abstained from applying. THE ROYAL VISIT TO CANADA. Ottawa, Octeber 4. The Duke and Duchess ot Cornwall, when returning homewards across Canada, viewed the mountain scenery from chairs, fixed in front of the engine, above the cow- catcher. Received October 5, 9.35 a.m. BRITISH TOBACCO TRUST. London, October 4. A British tobacco truat, embracing the leading manufacturers, is being formed with a capital of fifteen millions. QUEENSLAND LOAN. The Quaensland loan was covered twice over. Small applicants receive the full amount of their applications, large applicants about 40 per cent. A GOOD IDEA. The Agents-General, bankers, and merchants have petitioned the Court of Common Council of the City of London to allow the colonial exhibits at the Glasgow Exhibition to be sLown at the Royal Exchange or Guildhall.
