THEATRE ROYAL.
JOHN F. SHERIDAN. ' This evening the inimitable Irish comedian, John F. Sheridan, will make his first appearance at the Theatre Royal, vf ter a most successful S'iaaon in Auckland. The opening production will be Geo. R. Sims aud Leonard Merriek's musical comedy drama, " When the Lamps are Lighted," which is described as lively and interesting. It is a drama with a strong flavour of comedy, while numerous songs are introduced, written for Mr Sheridau, thus giving him an opportunity of showing hjs versatility. '• Wheu the Lamps are Lighted " is a quaint combination of musical comedy and drama. There is in it sufficient sensation and pathos for a couple of melodramas, and enough humour for several comedies. Among the many striking scenes may be mentioned " The Fvrte and Gala," '• Outside Waterloo Station," " The Slums at Wapping," " The Thames Embankment," and others. Incidental to the piece rro the following songs, duets, etc.: — " Some Day/ " When the Lamps are Lighted," '• Dandy Pat," and " Fuuicula Funiculi." A day sale of tickets for all parts of theatre and box plan at McKinnon BainV. The 'bus for Fitzroy will be delayed until after tbe performance during the above season. On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings uoxb "Fuu on the Bristol" will be staged, and on Thursday " A Trip to Chicago.'
