_ «. : Mil DOCKRILL DEPUTATIOXJrfED At 10 o'clock this (Saturday) morning, at the Town Hull, a deputation of burgesses waiifd on tho Mayor, Mr F-. Dw^krill, aakiag him to stand for a iurther term of oTic«. Then* were present: - Messrs D. Bt-rry, J. B. Roy, C. Ahier, S. ] B. White, J. Whitaker, T. Brash, H. (Joodacre, James Hart, and J. Ward. Mr Roy said those present represented a large section of the ratepayers, who desired Mr Dockrill to stand again for the mayoralty. He had himself been long associated with Mr Dockrill in municipal work, and therefore it gave him special pleasure in being the mouthpiece of those who were anx ous that Mr Dockrill should fill the office of Mayor for another term. He himself had filled the office of Mayor for some time, and therefore he kaew the many and arduous duties that de volved on the occupant of the position. During Mr Dockrill's term* of office he had performed the duties well, the extra work such as arranging for the despatch of men for the Contingents being carried out well. Mr Dockrill, in reply, said it gave him great satisfaction to know that his services had been so appreciated that a large section of the ratepayers desired that he should seek re - election for another term. Another matter that influenced him in contesting the next elec tion was the fact that recently a number of ratepayers, who said they had voted against him on the last occasion, had waited on him, and urged him to stand for re-election, stating that they would vote for him and use their influence on his behalf. Under these circu nstances he would accede to the wishes of the doputatiou, and stand for re-election. The proceedings then terminated.
