WORLD-WIDE CONDOLENCES AND TRIBUTES.

GERMAN ARMY GOES INTO \ • ~,s smourning. m u,un DEMONSTRATION IN tigfM INDIA. Onited Press Association. — By Electric Telegraph — Copyright . Received January 29, 12.22 a.m. London, January 24. — Condolences and tributes are world-wide, including heads of State, Parliaments, Governments, churches, colonies, and cities. Tbe Emperor of Austria has cabled King Edward that the Queen was a loyal and gracious friend, and that there were mutual feelings of friendly sympathy consistent with the basis of our political relations. The Kaiser has ordered the officers of the German army into mourning for a fortnight, and the Dragoon Guards' Regiment, of which the Queen was honorary colonel, to mourn for three weeks. The German public buildings and warships fly flags half-mast. Till the end of the funeral all State functions at Berlin and Paris are postponed. Speeches in foreign parts particularised the Queen's relatidns with their several countries, each claiming some special reason for veneration. The newspapers on the Continent equally appreciated her rare qualities as sovereign. The German, Russian, and French press are hopeful of King Edward's wide sympathy and ripe experience. There are general signs 'of sincere feeling in Portugal and America. Newspapers appreciate the messages from Canada and Australia as strengthening kinship. An extraordinary native demonstration of grief and loyalty was shown in India and general regard displayed in Egypt.
