Arnold's London Comedy Company.
.» . The popular actor Charles Arnold, and his new English Comedy Company, will commence a season at the Theatre i Royal on Tuesday night. This is Mr Arnold's third tour of New Zealand. He opened at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne, last Easter, when "What Happened to Jones," and '"Why Smith Left ' Home," farces by George H. Broadhurst, were produced. The success of the plays was iustantaneous, and proved an irrestible attraction for three months, and after Mr Arnold, having withdrawn them, he found that "Jones" and "Smith" had beaten all previous records at the leading theatres in Australia, with the exception of the London Gaiety Company and Bernhardt seanons. They are said to be the funniest farce comedies Australia has yet seen, the laughter created being heartier and more continuous than that caused even by "The Private Secretary" or "Charley's Aunt." The management announce their presentation in New Plymouth for two nights only, "What Happened to Jenes" being billed for Tuesday and "Why Smith ,Lef t Home" for Wednesday. Early application for seats is suggested, tne box plans being on view at Mr Gilmour's.
