A TRANBVAAL RAILWAY SCANDAL.

Last year judgment was given at tho Brussels Court in the criminal prosecution instituted by Dr. Leyds, Transvaal representative in Europe, against Baron Oppenhuiiu, his brother, and four other persons connected with the promotion of the Selati ltuilwuy Company in Belgium, to build the Selati Railway in the TransTaal. The two Oppenheims and their advocate, Henri Warnant, were found guilty ami sentenced to one year's imprisonment. Terwague was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, while Louis Warnant r.nd Braconnier were acquitted. On appeal the Brussels Court confirmed the acquittal of Louis Warn&at and Braconnier, but increased the sentences passed on Eugene Oppen&eim to three years' inifrisonment and Henri Warnant to eighteeu months.
