MR NEWTON KINGS WEEKLY AUCTION AND PRODUCE REPORT

At the Haymarket on Saturday a fair number of pigs were sold ; small stores making 10s to 10s 6d, slips 7s 6d to 10s, weaners ss. Calves, 3s 6d to 4s 6d A large number of horses were sold; hacks making from 30s to £7 2s Bd, trap horses £10 10s to £12. At the mart fowls made Is 5d to Is 9d: ducks, Is 6d to Is lOd ; potatoes, Id. A quantity of sundries was disposed of at low prices. At a sale on Monday last plums made 5s 6d to 8s ; tomatoes, 5s to 8s; pearß, ss; peaches, 7s6d; oranges, 8s; cucumbers, 4s; grapes, Is. On Thursday plums made from 4s to 7s; tomatoes (over-ripe), 3s to 5s ; apples, 2s 8d ; cucumbers, 3b 6d. Cattle.— At Waiwakaiho on Tuesday there was a small muster of stock. "Very few grown cattle were yarded, the majority being calves, for which bidding was quitcr than of late, and most of those wero passed at the hammer, but were | nearly all sold privately afterwards, For-

ward springing heifers were in good demand, and sold at satisfactory prices. Store cows made lower values. I quote: Calves 20s to 295, yearlings 35s to 475, 18 to 20 months steers 70s, 15 to 18months heifers 49s 6d, 2-year heifers 755, forward springers 80s to 87s 6d, halfbred Jersey springers 25s to 100s, store cows 50s to 655, fat cows 775. Land.- I have to report having negotiated the sale of the following properties: — Mr J. Wyatt Lee's improved farm of 500 acres, at Huirangi, to Mr John Coxhead, at a satisfactory figure; and Mr David Knight's livery stables and plant, at Hawera, to Mr Geo. Gibson, of the same place.
