Received Januaiy 18. 11.16 p.m. \ London, January 18. — The following {are the Bank of England returns for the week:— Reserve, £19,825,000; coin and bullion, £29,533,000 ; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 38*90; notes in circulation, £29,119,000 ; public deposits, £7,034,000 ; other deposits, £43,715,000 ; Government securities, £18,097,000; other securities, £3 l,o63,ooo. Three months' bills are discounted at 43-16 per oent. Consols are quoted at 97. The following are the quotations for Colonial Government securities :—: — New South Wales 4 per cents., 113* ; 3J, 103^ 3, 100." Victorian^ 4 per cents, 109 ; 3J, 102}. South Australian 3£ per cents.. 106; 3. 93. Queensland 4 per cents., 107 ; 3}, lO2|. New Zealand 4 per cents., 113; 3*. 106$ ; 3, 98. Tasmanian 3} per cents., loz. Westralian 3} per ) cents, 101f. Wheat market dull; tendency down" wjirds. New South Wales January* February shipments, 30s 3d; Victorian, 30s 6d; sailer parcels, 29s 3d. Silver, 2s 5 l-16d per ok. Copper, nominal; spot, 71 f; three months, 72|. Tin, steady; spot, 120 J; three months, 119}. Iron, 53s 9d. Lead, 16|. Sugar, dull; German, 9s 3d; first marks, 11s 3d. Wool, very firm, but unchanged. Bradford market, quiet; common sixties, 18}; supers, 19$. Butter, quiet and a shade weaker; choicest, 110s to 112s, good demand; secondary, 96s to 100s; Danish, 1255.
