Winter Oats.— Argill, 1. Div., £5 10s. A later telegram states that Neagle's leg was not broken, but severely bruised. Neagle was riding Greyphone,
MELBOURNE BETTING MARKET. United Press Association. — By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright. Received June 3, 10.15 p.m., Melbourne, July 2. — Arcadia has been backed for tho Grand National Hurdles at 100 to 5, 6, and 7, closing firm at the latter price. Goldfinder is favourite at 8 to 1.
Belernite and Gungadin for the double, Caulfield and Melbourne Cups were backed for £40,000 at 500 to 1, 15,000 of the amount being secured in Sydney. What tho N.Z .National Meeting at Chris tchurch would be without North Island -support can be gauged from the appended figures. Of the 29 nominated for the National Steeplechase 26 belong to the North Island ; and of the 29 nominated in the Hurdles 26 are North Island owned. Fourteen horses entered for the Winter Cup are also owned in the North Island.
