In 1883 ho was appointed Governor of tho Islo of Man. From 1884 to 1839 ha was Governor of Victoria, where he was very popular, afterwards succeeding Sir ITprcules Robinson as Governor of Cape Colony], Wkli ixgtox, Juno 27. — James Donnelly, for many years sergeant of police in New Zealand, and formerly connected with lUtistcourt, Victorii, died this morning, aged about 74. Deceased retired from the police some ten years ago, and has since held the position of Inspector of Weights and Measures.
