As the bakere have signified their intention of not calling with hot cross buns, [ our medicoes have arranged to import a supply and have them delivered as usual. 'You cannot beat Stratford for shrewd [ far-seeing business enterprise. Is it a coroner out of a job ? A syndicate of undertakers arranges with the County Council for the provision of logs across the East Road. Does the sexton's business languish ? A succession of banquets and coleo suppers fill the bills of mortality. Dulce et decorum, &c. Mr and Mrs Liavdet and family returned from their Old Country visit on Tuesday night and were met at the station by a crowd of friends. The whole party are looking exceedingly well, their quarantine experiences notwithstanding. A site is being sought for a bowling green, without which institution no selfrespecting town in Taranaki can allow itself to remain. Two well-known settlers became victims to the new Borough by-laws at Tuesday's Court sitting One was fined half-a-crown for allowing Ms milk-cart to wander about Broadway accompanied only by the j animal in the shafts, and the other was mulcted in two-and-six for driving after dark without an illuminant.
