April 5. — The conformation of the ground eastward of Bloemfqntein is Avell adapted for Boer tactics. Lord Roberts seeks to draw them on to his ground. The Boers at Kroonstad have been reinforced by Commandant Ollivier. The enemy arc in some force at Bushman's Kop, where they are threatening to raid the raihvay. General Gatacre is at Springfontein, co-operating Avith the forces at Bloemfontein in protecting the lines.
