AMATEUR AiHLETICS IN CHRISTCHUROH. [PKK FKKSS ASSOCIATION.] Christcuubch, October 4. — At a committee meeting of the Amateur Athletic Club, ' Dr. Jennings made a spirited a paal to members to preserve amateur^ ism in sport so far as athletic* wets concerned. It would be a standing disgrace if the clnb were the first to hold out the hand of welcome to cash cycling, which ! bad throttled amateur cycling in all parts. All cycling events were struck out at the Spring meeting. In our Sydney cabKs yesterday it was stated (hit Holder won the Half-mile Championship. The name should have read Holden.
