NEW ZEALAND TELEGRAMS.
COMPLIMENTARY SOCIAL TO. THE PREMIER.
Wellington, September 15.
The Premier was entertained last night by the Reception Committee afc a public social, which was largely* attended and very successful. Mr Seddon spoke for half an hour, chiefly describing the glories of the Jubilee, and the display of men-of-war at Spitbend. He said he had come back with a firm be'ief that Now Zealand is tha best country on earth, and tho people in it as good as anywhere. At the same time he spoke earnestly of the depth of affection shown at Home for the colonies.
THE LABOR MARKET.
According to the reports of the Labor Journal, Auckland and Christ' church -are the only places wh?ro there are many unemployed at present. In Wellington and Christchurch the numhas much decreased, and in most other towns there are very few idle men. The Surrey Department employs 1685 men, and the Public Works 1087. During the month 214 men were assisted t 0 by Labour Department.
