PRESENTATION AT KAIMATA SCHOOL.

[from a correspondemt.J On the 2nd inst, Mr McDonald, late headmaster of. the Kaimata School, was the recipient of a handsome travelling handbag, a turn of money, and an address from his pupils. Mr McDonald has been head-teacher of this school for nearly seven years, and he and his pupils have been mutually attached to each other, Hence this souvenir. Misses Alice Rowe and Ida Paul made the presentation, and -Miss Rowe read the following address: — Dear Mr McDonald, we, Ida Paul and Alice Rowe, the undersigned pupils of tho'Kaimata School, on our own behalf | and that of the other pupils, beg you to accept tha accompanying token of our esteem and affection. We shall always look back with pleasure on the time when you were our master, and your memory will long be respected among us. That you may in the future enjoy health, < prosperity, and every happiness, is our earnest and sincere wish, — Alice Rowe, Ida Paul. Mr McDonald, who had not previously bad the slightest intimation of this surprise, thanked the pupils kindly for this tangible token of their esteem of him. Of Mr McDonald's efficiency and success as a teacher, suffice it to state that, at some of the standards' examinations of this school, he found himself in the enviable position of being credited with cent per cent, and Inspectors' reports from other districts amply uphold that reputation. He is, however, tired of the irritation, worry, and annoyanco which, in New Zealand, seem inseparable | from the teaching profession, owing to the interference of school committees, : Boards of Education, Board's officials, parents, &c, and is about to proceed to Auckland city to enter on the profession of chemist and druegisi there, aud his majjy friends tore wish him success.,
