I FKOM OUR OWN COBEESPOMDENT. | | The Board met ou Saturday, September 4th. Present: Messrs Mackay (chairman), Burnett, Bloxham, Hathaway, Tylie, and Wilson. The Chairman was empowered to maka an offer to Mra Waaley for a piece of land to enlarge the present cemetery, at a cost not exceeding £10 per acie. The Board then went into committee to open and deal with tenders. On resuming, the following tendors were accepted: Contract No. 14, gravelling Pembroke Road, Rogers Bros; contract No 15, maintenance of Pembroke Road for 12 months, W. B. Payne; contract No. 17, metalling Salisbury Road, about 4 miles, Joseph Mulree. A letter was raad from Mr Keightly, Radnor Road, re pigs, &c. It was resolved that the attention of the ranger be called to the damage being done on the .Radnor Road by pigs said to belong to Mr Jakeaj and that he be requested to have the nuisaneo stopped; and that the overseer be instructed to have the outlet drain at the corner of Mra Hirst's property attended to. The overseer was instructed to get some 30 yards of stone deposited on the Pembroke Road for repairs with as little delay as possible. The clerk was requested to lay on the table at next meeting of the Board a statement showing how the Government subsidy has been allocated among the rariouc roads. A general rate of Jd in tba £ was made and levied over all the rateable property in the Manganui Road District for tha year ending 31st March, 1898. The clerk was instructed to inform Mr Hall that the Board will do the work asked for ly him on the Croydon Road provided he gives ihe overseer a written guarantee that he will do at his own expense, the work a«ked for by him on the Ackland Road. The action of the committee in regard to arrangements in connection with the Midhirst pound was approrod of. The same committee that made the arrangements re the Midhirst pound was appointed to make arrangements for a poundkeopar. Accounts were passed for payment and the Board rose.
