CONCERT AT OMATA.
A NEW organ has been lately obtained ! for the Anglican Church at Omata. It j was supplied by Mr T. Avery, who generously presented the amount of his j commission on the instrument to the Organ Fund. To clear off the deficit a most successful concert was given in the Omata schoolroom on Friday evening last, when the building was filled to overflowing with an appreciative audience, who thoroughly enjoyed the excellent programme provided. The local talent was supplemented by friends from &ew Plymouth and Oakura. The performers were as follows '.— Pianoforte solos, Miss Smith and Hajor Messengor i songs, Misses flursthousej Peuwarden, V. Crozier, and J. Goorge,Messrs liannisterj Milne; A.. Piitli; and McAllum ; quartettes, Misses Huratnouse, Messrs Bannister and Milne; duet (in character), Miss F. Putt and Mr A. Putt; recitations, Miss .A bier; comic songs (in character), MrD. F. Paterson; illustrated nursery rhymes. Misses Dorothy Bakewell, Glynes, and Mace, Masters Bollinger and Griffiths. Mr W. Skinner made a popular chairman. Mr Jones' omnibus and brake brought many visitors from town, among whom we were pleased to note Key.' Mr Walker and Mr Cooper, the organist of St. Mary's. Our hearty thanks are due to the performers who, In many cases, came from a distance to help us, and other assistance ,was so freely and willingly given, that it is impossible to particularise. Our friends will bo pleased to hear that the proceeds have about cleared off the defioit. As both seating and standing accommodation | .■were strained to the Utmost, we hope that | before long the energy and public spirit of the peoplo of Omata will provide a hall commenstirato to their needs.
