BAPTIST CONFERENCE.
[rER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Napiee, November 14.— At the Baptist Conference the whole day was devoted to foreign missions. The Treasurer's report showed receipts (including a balance of £308 6s sd) to the amount of £1206 10s Bd, aud disbursements £1157 2s sd. In the afternoon there was a missionary luncheon, at which several ministers of the town spoke, and at eight a crowded public me sting was addressed by Miss Bacon, Zenana Missionary, Rev Mr Duke, of Christchurch, and others. In the afternoon a discussion took place on a motion that female members of churches be eligible as delegates to the Union. It wiu understood that there was a majority in its favor, but as the chnrches were not fully represented it was withdraws. Notice of it was given for the next session. There was an interesting discussion on an address by the Rev Mr Drew on " Church Finance," in which raffles, lucky tubs, and similar devices to raise money at bazaars were strongly condemned.
