JAPAN RENOUNCES POSSESSION OF FENGHEI. By Electric Telegraph — United Press Association Copyright — Received 715195 — 12.30 p.m. Paris, May 6. — -The Japanese Minister in Paris has informed M. Hanotaux, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, that Japan has renounced the claim .to the permanent possession of the Liaotong Peninsula, including Port Arthur. St. Petersburg,- May 6. — A communique to the Journal de St. Petersburg states that Japan, yielding to the advice of the Great Powers, has renounced the final possession of Fengtien. Shanghai, May 6. — The British and German sailors virtually occupy the treaty ports in Formosa owing to the attitnde of the "Black Flags." It is understood that Japan is willinging to surrender Lialong peninsula with the exception of Port Arthur, but the Great Powers are demanding the release ef the whole peninsula.' The British Government advise Japan to accept the.latter's proposal. Tho Russian, .German, and French squadrons are assembled at Chefoo.
