[from our own correspondent.] , April 22.— Mr Thoma3 Bishop, late of j tho 57th regiment, died this morning at half-past 8, after an illness of several months. Mr T. Bishop had served with distinction in the Crimean war and was awarded distinction bar 3 for Inkerman, Balaclava, and Sebastapcl ; he also served in the New Zealand war, and was wounded in Taranaki for which he reoeived a pension of sixpence per day. He hid ako served under the late Major Atkinson in the Taranaki Bush Party, .'.so under Major Messenger at White Clip's. He was a good soldier, a kind man, and respected by all who knew him. Ai'Rii. 23rd.— The funeral of the Lite Thomas Bishop left for the cemetery at three this afternoon. The Rev FaChor McKenna officiated. It was very pleasing to notice that so many bottlers attended notwithstanding tho day was stormy.
