TURF ITEMS.
Mutiny, the expatriated Taranaki hack, won the A.J.C. Steeplechase at Randwick on Tuesday, after a great struggle, just getting home by half a head. Three Now Zealand bred horses won races at Randwick on Tuesday. Mr Douglas' Mutiny (Mute—Lady Maxwell) won the Steeplechase ; Mr Hungerford's Whakawatea (Apremont—Becky Sharp) the Shorts Handicap ; and Mr Gollan's The Possible (Nordenfeldt—Realisation) credited hi 3 owner with the Spring Maiden Stakes. Acceptances and general entries for the Taranaki Trotting Association meeting close on Saturday next. Handicaps for the Stratford Trotting mooting will be declared after the Taranaki Meeting. Tho priviloge of running the grandstand publicau's booth at the Trotting Meeting was to-day sold by Mr N. King to Mr Raynes, who also bought the refreshment right. Tho total sum was £6.
