PAREMATA BLOCK.

A telegram from Gisborne, stating that the Bank of New Zealand Estate Company's interests in the Paremata block, before Validation Court, is onl/ valued at £20,800, the manager has wired that that the telegram is not correct. There are acres. The Company's interest has not been specially assessed, and' if judgment is given against, the Company's loss falls entirely upon the natives. The total interests of assets of the Company at Gisborne are about £47,000, for which the Company hold clear' titles affording ample security, and the Company only appears before the Validation Court for the benefit of the natives who have interests on blocks over which the Company hold a first charge. MAN DROWNED. A man named J. J. Mcßae was accidently drowned at Helensville. FOUND DEAD. Wellington, May 19. James Beard, a settler at Morrison's Bnsh, Wairarapa, who has been missing faince 8 a.m. yesterday, was found dead this morning on land near his house. There are no particulars as to cause of death.
