(FROM OUR RESIDENT AGENT.] October 11.— A fairly well attended meeting was held lust evening to consider the best means of re organ sing the public library and reading room. The Town Board flh tirman presided Mr T. II Ponn a member of the former committee gava a short hiatory of the institution which had exi-ted sin c 1886 but hid of late been practi ally defunct. Ho attributed the want of suocess wheh the undertaking had met with to the absence of a suitable room specially devoted to tho purpose. Tho room which the Town Board had placed at tbe committee's disposal waß closed whenever tbe Town Hall wbb engaged, an almost every day occurrence. A dincuspfon followed during which a propoaal wat mooted to approach the Town Board on the subject of building an addition to the hall to be used exclusively as a reading room, A strong committee was appointed to formulute a scheme of re organisation and to then canvass the town to ascertain tha amount of support that could be relied on.
