EDUCATION BOARD.
The Education Board met on Wednesday. Present; Miss Hey wood, Messrs Bauchope (chairman), Hill, Faull, Adlum, AHsworth, Wade, Olson, and Han Mr Kelly. Central Scltoot — It was decided to provide a gate at the top of tho steps to the Central School at a cost not to 1 xceed £2 ss. Thanks.~A vote of thanks was passed to the Hon Mr Kelly and to the members of tho district, Messrs E M. Smith and Felix McGuire, and to the Chairman of the Board for the manner in whicl, they advocated the clam? of tho Board on the Government while in Wellington Building Grwrt. — Tho Inspector General notified that the Board's building grant this ye-ir amounts to £1375, f r which a vou,cho" ha.d been passed. Warea. — The Board directed the Warea Committee to Bell an old gate for the best price obtainable and report to the Board, and to store a windlass under cover in tho meantime. Waiongo* a. — The Chairman of tho Lepporton Commit teo reported (hut the Waiongona tchool was re-opened on October 2, the district being now free of the measlec epidemic. Pupil Teachers. — Mi'bs M Shaw was appointed on probation as v pupil teacjnr at tho Central School in terms of Regulation 4of the amended regulations Miss I, Uo.ll, pupil teacher at Norfols Road, will bo removed to the WaiongOLa tchool after tho annual examination of tho Nor folk Road school, end the Inspector was authorised to take steps to fill the vacancy caused by s< eh removal. Unnui. — The action of tho Urequi Com I luittee in closing the school on account of measles was approved, and the committee will be instructed to re-open as soon as possible. Bouxin Road, — Tho Rowan Road Committeo notified that tho timber round tho school had been cleared nnd burnt as far as funds would permit. Wuipuhi. — The Waipuku Committee applied to bavo tho annual examination of the school deferred till April on account of the exceptionally wot weather Inttrfoiing with the regular attendance. — The Boaui decided that the examination of tho school was left to the discretion of the Inspector. I that Mr English had resigned without requisite notice, and as the echool was understaffed they had appointed Miss Mjrgan temporarily to the position — The Boaad decided to appoint Miss Morgan as fiorn 10th inst. Committeeman. — Tho Taiiki Committee notified that Mr J. Dunick had been elected to the committee in place of Mr T. Corbett, who had left the district. i Teacher's Residence —Mr RE. Dowling, teacher at Central School, applied for übo of a cottage at the back of the Infanta' School. — The application was referred to the chairman to enquire into und report at next meeting. School Site— Mr W. J. Murphy wrote requesting tho Board to fell bush a chain wide on a school site in tbe Capo Diettiot along his boundary in order that he might get his fence put up. — The Board did not see their way clear to c'ojmrt from a previous decision. Lower Kent Roud -Mr W- M Faundera applied for permission to iuo a'^ddock round tho school to keep his h&Tse ia.— Tno Board decided to info: 111 applicant* that tho paddock in primarily for the ueo of the children, but tho Board have no objection to his using it Bubjcct to tlia children b lights. Accounts — Accounts umoiiuling to £53 18s 3d wero passed for payment Tho Board adjourned.
