The Chamber of Commerce, the tea merchants, and City and Country Exchanges strongly protest agaiust the taxation proposals cf the Government, i and have appointed a deputation to wait on the Colonial Treasurer. Brisbane, July 26. The Budget shows the revenue has fallen short of the estimate by £222,000, and is attributed chiefly to a decrease in taxation. The deficiency now stands at £1,566,800, bat the greater part of this is covered by Treasury bills. It is estimated the revenue of the coming year will be £3,375,500, and expenditure £3,879,690.
