TARANAKI ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

The annual meeting of the Taranaki Acslimatisation Society was held in the Council Chambers on Friday night. Mi Paul was in the chair.

Report — Ihe Hon. Secretary (Mr W L. Newman,) read tho annual report, w ich stated that the Society had closed tho yeai with a balanco in hand of £101 0s 3 . During tho year the Society had paid the sum of £10 lls for the destruction ol hawks and shags, bein^ 418 of the formei and 4of the latter. They hid received from the Wellington Society's hatcaerie* about 40,000 trout fry, which had be?n distributed in various Rtream3 between Stratford on the one hand and Opunake on the other. The thanks of the Society are due to MrGibbont. for the attention and care given to the four brace of English partridge lately 1 berated. — After discussion the report whs adopted.

Officers. — Tho following officers were then elected : — Chairman, Mr Paul ; Committee, Messrs F. P. Corkill, Kny velt, A. Morton, Witcholl, W. L. Newman, and Dr O'Carroll. — Mr Newman notified that ho would be unable to undertake the duties of secretary. The meeting then elected Mr D. McAHuni as secretary and treasurer. Vote of Thanks. — A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Newman for his va'uablo services during the ten yeara ho acted as hon. secretary and treasurer. More Partridges. — The Chairman and secretary were authorised to arrange for a further supply of partridge at a cost not to exceed £20.

Trout Ooj. — It was decided that a sum of £40 be sent to the Wellington Society for supplies of trout ova. The meeting then terminated.
