Sydney, May 6. Parliament is expected to close in a fortnight. The Japanese Government has passed a bill to subsidise the Japan Mail Steamship Company to run a first-class lino of steamers to Australia.
Almost a general notice has been issued to the Western colleries that it is the intention to make a reduction in the wages.
The Attorney- General has decided not to proceed with the second charge against those acquitted in connection > with the administration of the Mercantile Eaak.
The Government statist announces that the total imports of Australasia last year were £59,109,000, and the exports £64,292,000.
