INGLEWOOD.
FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. April 10. — A general meeting of tho Inglowood Gymnasium Club and Sports Committee was held in the Gymnasium Hall on Saturday evening, for the purpose of electing a committee for tho ensuing year, also to hear the balance-sheets for the years 1892-93 Thero were about fifty members present, Mr R H. Davies was in tho chair. Mr F. H. Brown, the Hon. Secretary read the balance sheets showing a credit as followß :— Gymnasium Sports £26 Is 9d, club to March 31, £13 Is sd. The balance-sheets were unanimously adopted. The Chairman after referring in feeling terms to the late Mr H. W. ftlarfh, tho former chairman, gave a very lucid account of all the transactions of the club from the commencement to the present time. He said, to become a member of the club, in eluding football, would only cost each member 10a per annum ; but any person wishing to join Mr Keosing'a class would havo to pay an additional sum for the san.e period Should there bo a sufficient numbers of members for a children? an>l adult class, the club 'vould arrange mattcie with Mr Keosing, who would attend on each Saturday. The children would havo to pay only 5j per annum. The club did not desire to make- any' profit, thoir only object being to pay expenses. Tho election of officers was then proceeded with, when the following genl'e men wre elected :— Colonel Trimble, President ; Di. Valintine and H. Brown, Esq , Vice-Presidents ; F. H. Brown, lion, Secretary ; Club and Sport? Committee, Messrs R. U Davies, Tmhy, Stevens, Shoroud, and Kennedy. The Chairman proposed that nest year, circulvs should L>3 sent to other clubs in order that the clubs might not clash with each other in holding their sport meetings. This was agreed to.
Some- one asked the question should any acudent occur to any member of the club at football, &c, would the porson injured or tho club pay for medical or surgi cal attendance? Dr. Valintin: being present, replied to tho question saying that should any accident occur at football, or within the club's hall, ho would give his atlondance gratuitously. At this generous offer there was tremendous cheering. Not to bo headed, Mr R. H. Davies, Surveyor, said that all who failed to recover undor the doctor'ti hands ho would survey tho ground for their mortal remaino gratis. In conclusion tho Chairman returned his thanks to the Committee for their support ; also ho spocially thankod the Hon. Sec. for his numerous services, and for tho correct manner he had prepared tho balance sheet.
An unanimous vote of thanks was given to the president, vicopresident, the committee, and hon. secretary. Now is a splundil chance for the youngsters and some of the older ones to join Professor Keesing's duss and have the " hump " removed from their backa.
The Chairman stated to tho meeting that tho club spent £-10 in permanent improvements on tho sports ground during the year. Thoy had also purchased a section of land which cost £50, and had crectod a building on it at a cost of £2*20, which money was raised by debentures. Thero was' spent also for fittings, &c, £1(3. There is every reason that the Committee should be congratulated' and thanked for the trouble thoy have takon all' through, and fur having still a credit balance to the club
