DEATH OF MR GEO. DONNE.
A private cablgram received at Wellington from Sydney Btates that Mr Geo. Donne, who was well-known and highly respected on the New Zealand turf, died there at noon on Tuesday April 4, from pleurisy and inflamtmtion of the lungs. Mr Donne race I in Uih colony under the ro.wtered name of •' Mr G. Bate " Among the horses owned by li'in were Tho Poet and Hilda, nnd with oacli he won the Wellington Cup, besides other valuable Btakeß in the colony.
