WIFE ABDDOTION CASE AT . (.LITHEROE.
Court and its decrees for the restitution of rights, because, after all, there is nothing but physical force at the bottom of all law; and if, when all else fails, a husband — or a policeman — is not allowed simply lo carry his wife home, there is no flse in getting the decree at all. The bearing of the decision on the general question of divorce is obvious. The situation, however, might work very well in a novel. Something ■ like this — " The Jacksonian Bride, a Tale of Revenge." She was lovely and fascinating. And she hated him. In the second chapter you may explain briefly why. She was reso'ved to revenge herself upon him. Did she poison him ? Worse. Did she refuse him when she had driven him mad with love ? Worse. She married him. And at the church door she left him. Went home with her friends, and left him a husband yet not a husband, a widower yet not a widower, for life. A very good story indeed for a shilling shocker.
