FIRE AT WANGANUI.
I PICB PBKBB ASSOCIATION. I Wangancti, January 14. — Afire occurred in Wilson-street this morning. It gutted an eight-roomed house owned and occupied by Mrs Miller. The furniture, which was insured for £150. was all saved. The house was insured for £250 in the London, Liverpool, and Globe.
A young man, who gave the name of Morris, was arrested at Waitara on Tuesday night by Constable Christie on suspicion of being a person named Walter George Willoughby, whose arrest was required on a warrant issued at Pahiatua for alleged forgery and uttering three cheques to the amount of £42 19s at that place. .■ Accused was brought before the ■Resident Magistrate this (Wednesday) afternoon. Mr Richmond appeared for the accused. Sergt. Duffin asked for a remand till Saturday, which was granted. - Applications are invited by the Stratford County Council for the post of clerk. Conditions of service, which do not require the clerk to provide an office, may be seen at this office..-
